Art of Defence offers cloud based WAF on Amazon

It was only a matter of time before someone creates an in the cloud WAF based on Amazon cloud computing services. Art of defence, one of the early WAF in the cloud solution provider. has won the innovation race this time.

While details scant are as expected in most commercial announcements, it seems that the new service targets current Amazon Web Services (AWS) customers. The advantage of an Amazon based solution for existing Amazon customers is that it can eliminate the dual bandwidth issue which is one of the major obstacles facing WAF cloud solutions. In addition Art of Defence promises easy installation using a plug-in installed on the customer's Amazon based server, turning the new solution in effect to an hybrid host/network based WAF, though of course such distinctions tend to lose their meaning in the cloud.
