A new ModSecurity book, of for that matter WAF book, is rare enough and I was overjoyed that one ModSecuirty book was released earlier this week. What can I say now that two ModSecurity books where released in the same week!
However this one is even more important as this is the first time that Ivan Ristic, ModSecurity creator have written a book about his brainchild. This book is going to be a unique one and address many of the concerns I made in my last blog entry about books.
- Written by the best expert on the subject matter, the book can be insightful to anyone. This is not yet another manual that you can find while browsing the Internet. Ivan is not just an expert but a great writer as a glance at his blog proves.
- To avoid the syndrome of obsolete before completed, Ivan is going to make this book an ever updating book. Not just product updates but also readers feedback will influence updates.
- An early release will enable wide review before publication.
To sum up, the book It is going to be to an extent similar to open source projects but retain the clear origin and accompanying copyrights which are essential to achieve quality in a book.
So now we egerly wait for the initial draft release next week.
